A Special Gift

When my son Daniel's good friend Debbie admired my spring quilt (previous post), I told her I would make her a lap quilt to take to college. I gave her some pattern choices, and she selected Blooms by Pauline Smith, which is in the Kaffe Fassett book Country Garden Quilts. We went shopping and she decisively chose her color scheme: bright pinks, oranges, cherry reds, and a bit of purple highlighted by a gorgeous bright aqua batik. Wow!

I just gave it to her this week and not a moment too soon - she leaves for school on August 21. The quilt is so like Debbie - bright and beautiful! I like the pattern so much, I'm planning to do a similar one for my house this fall. No, it won't be these colors!
