Sewing with Linen

I'm having a little love affair with linen - its a secret though, I haven't told anyone. I think it started with my passion for Rachel Ashwell, I love her style but I just can't commit to an all white sofa. Well, I guess I did with my shabby sofa in the sewing room [ahem].

Then, I found this lovely tutorial over at Freckled Laundry - wouldn't these rosettes look great on a bag?

And, then, not too long after, Freckled Laundry posted these!

But, was that it? No way! Julie had to go and post about the newest Kaylee quilt which I'm hoping we'll get to see at tomorrow's quilt meeting, or, more realistically, maybe she'll tell us about the quilt. All this longing for linen had me thinking about sewing it. I never have. So, I started searching.

For those of you interested in linen, you might want to take a look at True Up's sewing with linen segment. Threads magazine also has something to say about linen, here. I'm off to go and take a peak at my stash of linen, yes, I've been stocking up.

So, in honor of linen,

I'm having a little love affair with linen - its a secret though, I haven't told anyone.

If you're interested in what happened during sewing weekend, I posted over at the other blog.

  1. I was a little intimidated at first but is actually quite nice to sew with. The slight stiffness of the fabric makes it super simple to match up the pieces. I haven't felt the need to use pins yet. Now, I haven't washed it yet either so I'll have to update once that is complete.

  2. I'm still wanting to make linen slipcovers for my dining room chairs. Go, Julie!
