- Fat Quarter Shop - a great place for pre-cuts (i.e. fat quarters, charm packs, etc) that also has fun yardage, quilt kits, and free patterns. Also my go-to place anytime I want a random grab bag of fabric.
- Connecting Threads - I actually just discovered this shop when looking around for a quilt kit for my cousin's wedding in August. I ended up purchasing a large quilt kit, a baby quilt kit, and some laminate cotton to make raincoats for my children. Lovely quilting fabric, pre-cuts, kits, tools, and also some neat patterns. - Fabric.com - Anytime I find a fabric I love (like the Thomas the Train Engine fabric for my sons quilt) I check here to see if I can get it cheaper (which I did). I especially love their non-quilting fabric such as the ribbed wool for my mom's cape, the fleece for kids hats, wool suiting for dopp kits, and sweater knits. I use the sales to inspire my sewing. I'm in the same boat you are. I don't go out shopping with the kids EVER if I can help it. I don't really like shopping in person at all anymore anyway, even without them. The thought of dragging 3 people out someplace they don't want to be is just not at the top of my list of how I want to spend my free time. I like to window shop at Spoonflower: http://www.spoonflower.com/welcome but it's usually out of my price range. Lately I tend to buy from Fabric Worm http://www.fabricworm.com/organicfabric.html. They have organics and specialty lines, but again, they tend to be a little pricey so I usually buy a yard to two then supplement with something from fabric.com. I end up buying a lot of fabric from Etsy too because I find I can usually negotiate a better price with the shop owner.
