I'm finally done! I love this Christmas wall hanging! So bright! Cheery and RED, my favorite color! I machined quilted it using swirls of wind and snow reminding me of my IL winters.
Finding fabric that I liked was more of a chore then I thought that it should have been. But now I know of a couple more fabric stores to go to. I embroidered the santa and trees in a brighter red then normal redwork is done. Then came upon fabric at a far away shop, without the pattern notes on me, I bought 1/2 yd of each fabric. Which was a good thing because when I pieced together the log cabin the directions were wrong?! (Has this ever happened to any of you?? Not to me, until now) I thought that I cut, pieced, sewed wrong, so I redid them again, only to find out that yes the directions were WRONG. After swearing and complaining to my sister (thanks for listening Michelle) I figured out the math (yuck) and ended up trimming to fit the santa circle. So without further a due here is my very much loved Christmas wall hanging (done just before mom and dad come :)
What became of the 24 wrong sized squares you might ask? They are going to be reused as jar coverings for gifts.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

the cutest little sweater and some projects
For those of you who have not seen this project yet, I present you with a lovely little sweater Michelle made for the baby...
I just love the little puppy dog buttons. I can't wait to see little Rocco* in it. Thanks, Michelle...I love it :)
In other news, I have been trying to fit in a few small projects here and there, mostly out of guilt that I haven't really done much for this baby and Kaylee had a whole crib set, clothes, and toys sewn up by the time she arrived.
School is wrapping up this week though, I'm giving my students their final exam on Thursday and I just finished up my group project for my LAST CLASS at Milwaukee last night (I should have my degree in a few weeks!!), so I'm starting to have a bit more time. I whipped up a few burp cloths with leftover fabric from his baby quilt:
And I also made a garland for his hospital bed (no pics yet). I finally finished cutting all the strips for his quilt but haven't started sewing yet...maybe next week in the calm before the storm.
*Michelle's nickname for the baby, not his real name (he doesn't have one yet...we still have a few more weeks to figure that one out)

Great for a quick present
This bag is a wonderful and easy/quick project - I made one for my MIL's birthday (and the other just because I had the fabric). The pattern called for heavyweight cotton, but I just visited the remnant section of Vogue fabrics and got regular cotton and used fusible interfacing. You can't see it, but there's a third fabric for the lining.
Show & Tell
The black and white quilt is coming along nicely. I decided that I needed to add one more row, so, that is currently in the works.
It's a little too much for me to look at - my eyes go a little crazy - but, from far away, I like it!
Here are the mitts I was working on too. I just love them and, I've already started another pair. However, I'm not quite happy with the cast off, I need to fix that, I think. Happy Holidays!
